Privacy Policy

Kowope is built to keep personal lending and small-business money records private. This policy explains what information we handle, why we need it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
We collect the account details you provide, including your name, email address, phone number, account type, business name, and optional profile image. We also store the people or customers you add, their phone numbers, notes, debts, payments, corrections, reminder records, and statement data.
Contacts and reminders
On supported devices, Kowope can ask you to select a contact. We receive only the name and phone number you deliberately choose; we do not read or upload your full address book. Kowope cannot determine whether a number has a WhatsApp account. WhatsApp, SMS, and phone-call actions open an external application only after you review and choose the action.
How we use information
- Provide authentication, private ledgers, balances, statements, exports, and reminder preparation.
- Secure the service, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and understand product performance.
- Send essential account messages such as email confirmation and password recovery.
- Comply with applicable law and protect users and the service.
We do not sell your personal information or use your financial records for advertising.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate Kowope, including Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage; Vercel for hosting and product analytics; and Resend for account email delivery. They process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Reminder channels you choose are also subject to the privacy practices of WhatsApp, your messaging application, or your phone provider.
Retention and deletion
We retain your information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to operate and protect the service. You can export your ledger and permanently delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your Kowope profile, ledger records, reminder history, and uploaded profile image and cannot be undone. Limited operational records may remain temporarily in provider logs or backups where required for security or legal compliance.
Security and your choices
We use authenticated sessions, tenant-scoped database rules, and access controls designed to keep one account from reading another account's records. No online system is completely risk-free. Keep your password private, use a secure device, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You may correct profile information, export your ledger, or delete your account from Settings.
Children and changes
Kowope is not intended for children under 18. We may update this policy as the product grows. Material changes will be communicated in the application or by email, and the effective date above will be revised.
